The Charlotte restaurants where Netflix’s ‘The Ultimatum’ cast flirted, fought and ate
Five couples — and the city of Charlotte — are in the national spotlight in a new reality television show on Netflix.
“The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On” is back with a second season, set in Charlotte.
In the Netflix series, which was originally released in 2022, five couples are put to the test to decide if they want to “get hitched or call it quits” after one issues an ultimatum. The couples agree to split up while they each enter into a trial marriage with another contestant from a different pairing for three weeks before deciding if they ultimately still want to be with their original partner or break up.
All of the couples on this season are from Charlotte and other parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, and all of the dates for the dating experiment are filmed in various spots around the city. It all started with “get to know you” dates around the pool and the private cabanas at The Vue’s 8th floor outdoor lounge, then ended with proposals (or breakups? you’ll have to watch to see!) at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
But where did they eat? Here is a list of some of the bars, clubs and restaurants in Charlotte featured in this season of “The Ultimatum”. (A heads up: There are a few minor spoilers ahead, so hold off reading only if you don’t yet know who has paired up with who.)
Slate Charlotte and Oak Room
Location: 200 E Bland St, Charlotte, NC 28203
Episode 1: The contestants are on a group date on their last night with their original partners.
Slate Charlotte and Oak Room are among the popular nightlife spots along the rail trail in South End. Slate is a spot with bar games, drinks and food that’s connected to Oak Room, a private dance club next door.
Stoke
Location: 100 W Trade St, Charlotte, NC 28202
Episode 2: Roxanne and Alex meet three days before choosing their new potential partners.
Stoke, inside the Charlotte Marriott City Center, is a popular spot to grab a drink or dinner in uptown. The restaurant and bar offer seasonal dishes with Carolina Piedmont influences and rotating craft brews and ciders on tap.
PARA
Location: 235 W Tremont Ave Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28203
Episode 2: Kat and Antonio have dinner three days before decision day.
PARA, which opened in South End in 2022, is a newer restaurant known for its creative cocktails and globally inspired small plates.
The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery
Location: 4150 Yancey Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217
Episode 2: James and Riah meet for a date two days before decision day.
The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery has long been a staple in Charlotte’s beer scene, as the city’s oldest brewery. The German-style Brauhaus, which opened in 2009, has drinks, food and the largest Biergarten in the Southeast.
Broken Promises
Location: 214 W Tremont Ave STE 101, Charlotte, NC 28203
Episode 2: Trey and Lisa meet up one day before decision day.
Broken Promises is a cocktail bar, inspired by nightlife in New York and Tokyo, with specialty drinks, live DJs, events and more.
Supperland
Location: 1212 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28205
Episode 4: Roxanne and Alex drink on the patio during week two of the trial marriages.
Supperland is a Southern steakhouse located in a restored mid-century church in Plaza Midwood. The local restaurant has a garden, private wine room, outdoor patio and a speakeasy.
Bakersfield
Location: 1301 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203
Episode 5: This is where Alex meets Roxanne’s parents during week three of the trial marriages.
Bakersfield, a Cincinnati-based restaurant, is a popular spot known for its Mexican street food-inspired menu and drinks. The Charlotte location, in the Dilworth neighborhood, is one of eight across the U.S.
Figo 36
Location: 416 E 36th St Unit 600, Charlotte, NC 28205
Episode 5: Trey gets introduced to Ryann’s brother and his girlfriend.
Figo 36, nestled in the NoDa neighborhood, has global dishes with an Italian twist and a craft cocktail menu. The local spot features in-house, fresh made pasta, pizza and other dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
Canopy Cocktails & Garden
Location: 118 E Kingston Ave #10, Charlotte, NC 28203
Episode 5: Trey, Antonio, Alex and James catch up with one another during a guys night.
Canopy Cocktails & Garden, which opened in 2022, is located in South End’s Dilworth Artisan Station. The popular cocktail lounge has multiple bars and a wide selection of drinks on the menu.
Saku
Location: 123 E 5th St Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28202
Episode 5: Roxanne, Riah, Ryann and Kat get together for a ladies night over drinks.
Saku is an uptown Charlotte restaurant specializing in skewered meats and veggies called yakitori, along with small plates and sushi. The newly opened spot also offers classic Japanese comfort foods, cocktails and sake.
Havana 33
Location: 637 Williamson Rd Unit 100, Mooresville, NC 28117
Episode 6: Riah and Trey dine on a date during the final day of their trial marriage.
Havana 33 is a Miami-style Cuban restaurant in the Lake Norman area. The Mooresville spot with a waterfront view has an extensive menu, including small bites and party trays.
Treehouse Vineyards
Location: 301 Bay St, Monroe, NC 28112
Episode 7: Ryann and James meet when the second trial marriages begin.
Located in Monroe, Treehouse Vineyards is a popular spot for a wine tasting or a unique overnight stay in the area. In addition to tastings and tours, the local winery also offers live music, events and treehouse rentals for visitors.
Hi-Wire Brewing
Location: 340 W. Tremont Ave., Suite 140, Charlotte, NC 28203
Episode 7: Kat and Alex grab a drink with her friends 10 days before ultimatums are answered.
Hi-Wire Brewing Charlotte, located in South End, is one of four locations across North Carolina. The Asheville-based taproom offers wine, draft ciders and non-alcoholic drinks, along with games and food.
Catawba Brewing Co. (now closed)
Location: 933 Louise Ave #105, Charlotte, NC 28204
Episode 7: Riah and Trey meet with Riah’s sister five days before ultimatums are answered.
Catawba Brewing Co., which recently closed at the beginning of the month, was one of four of the company’s locations across the Carolinas. The brewery, which opened in 2017, offered craft beer, food trucks, bingo, trivia and other weekly events. The management team says there are plans to open a new location, but at this time, it’s unclear when or where the space will be.

The Giddy Goat Coffee Roasters

Episode 8: Ryann and James discuss their trial marriage with his mom.
The Giddy Goat Coffee Roasters is a popular coffee shop in the Plaza Midwood area. Aside from coffee and baked goods, you can also enjoy beer and wine in Giddy Goat’s drink lounge and patio.
Deluxe Fun Dining
Location: 305 W 4th St, Charlotte, NC 28202
Episode 8: Riah and Trey discuss their relationship three days before ultimatums are answered.
Deluxe Fun Dining, one of the most extravagant spots in town, is known for its unique, over-the-top drinks and dishes. The uptown restaurant has an ever-evolving menu, including gold-wrapped foods and smoked cocktails.
Wooden Robot
Location: 1440 S Tryon St UNIT 110, Charlotte, NC 28203
Episode 8: Roxanne and Antonio discuss their experience with her parents.
Wooden Robot is a hot spot for local beer lovers, with locations in South End and NoDa. The original brewery has a taproom, biergarten, kitchen and coffee bar, and The Chamber has a taproom and rooftop patio — Roxanne and Antonio were at the South End location.
Billy Sunday
Location: 1115 N Brevard St UNIT 1, Charlotte, NC 28206
Episode 8: Ryann and James have a big talk about their futures on the final night of their trial marriage.
Billy Sunday is famous for its colorful craft cocktails and bites at Optimist Hall. Make sure to stake a spot on the patio to enjoy your late summer evening.
