Charlton bank robbed; police release photo of suspect
CHARLTON - A branch of Country Bank was held up Friday afternoon, and police are asking for the public's help to track down a suspect.
The bank robber, who told bank employees he had a gun, took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the area on foot. An extensive search, aided by a state police tracking dog, came up empty.
Investigators are trying to determine if the robber had an accomplice. Although a weapon was mentioned, none was shown, police said.
Police released images of the robber taken from video cameras in the bank. He is described as heavy set, about 6 feet tall, with reddish facial hair. He wore a knit hat, sunglasses and a surgical mask.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the case to contact the Police Department at (508) 248-2250.
The robbery of the bank, at 37 Worcester Road, occurred about 3 p.m. There were no reported injuries.
