Charmed season 3 spoilers ahead.

Madeleine Mantock's Macy Vaughn left this mortal coil in the season 3 finale of Charmed.

Fans of the show might've already been prepared for her exit – news of Mantock quitting emerged earlier this month – but this didn't dampen their reactions on Twitter following Macy's on-screen death.

In the heartbreaking episode, she swallowed some supernatural fungus after being taken over by the Whispering Evil – sacrificing herself in the process.

"Sureties in life: death, taxes and black female lead characters deserving better from their networks and showrunners. I'm so sorry they failed you," tweeted one disheartened Charmed fan.

Someone else went on to share: "Thank you @missmads for bringing an awesome character to life with what little you had to work with. I wish we could've gotten to see more of the incredible Macy Vaughn, there never be another!"

The impassioned responses continued, with a third viewer pointing out: "I wouldn't be mad about Macy dying/Madeleine leaving if they've did her any real justice over the last two seasons.

"If she choose to move on, go back home. It is disgusting that she was pushed out of this and no one on the CW thought she was worth fighting for."
