The smoldering remains of homes, vehicles, and woodland devastated by the Dixie Fire in Greenville, California, were captured on August 7 by photographer Ryan Tang in the immediate aftermath of the blaze.

Governor Gavin Newsom also visited the town on August 7, and said it had been “completely destroyed” by the fire.

As of September 4, the Dixie Fire had been active for 51 days, spread across 885,954 acres over five counties, and had destroyed more than 1,200 structures, officials said. Credit: Ryan Tang via Storyful
