Chase Daniel labeled Chiefs’ blowout win over Bears the ‘Matt Nagy revenge game’

The Chicago Bears famously (or maybe it should be infamously) drafted Mitch Trubisky instead of Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft.

But that’s not the only time the Chiefs got the better of the Bears. As Chicago Sun-Times reporter Mark Potash noted, both franchises fired their head coaches on Dec. 31, 2012.

The Chiefs made a quick hire and it was the right decision, because Andy Reid has won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs.

Chicago later picked one of Reid’s coordinators to be the Bears head coach. Matt Nagy was hired by the Bears in 2018 and he led Chicago to a pair of playoff appearances in four seasons with Trubisky at quarterback.

Following the 2021 season, the Bears fired Nagy and he joined the Chiefs staff as a quarterbacks coach before taking back the offensive coordinator job this season.

The Chiefs’ 41-10 win over the Bears certainly had to feel good to Nagy, right?

Former Chiefs and Bears quarterback Chase Daniel, who played at Mizzou, summed it up this way:

Daniel also weighed in on the illegal formation penalty on Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor that wiped away a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

With the touchdown off the board, the Chiefs offense stayed on the field and Mahomes was injured just before halftime. Fortunately for the Chiefs, he stayed in the game.
