The Chase is set to get a reboot in the US, as ABC is reportedly eyeing up an all-new team of Chasers made up of some of its other quiz show champions.

The American version of The Chase originally premiered on Game Show Network in 2013, but with a few key differences when compared to the British version.

While in the UK, teams of four contestants compete against a different Chaser in every episode – chosen from a team of Chasers that includes the likes of Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan or Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace – in the US version teams of three contestants competed against Mark Labbett – aka The Beast – for the chance to take home their total prize fund.

Despite positive reviews and being nominated for the Outstanding Game Show award at the Daytime Emmys in 2014, The Chase US's final episode aired back in 2015.

However, The Hollywood Reporter has now shared that ABC is eyeing up the format for its own network, and it's reportedly in talks with some of its previous quiz champions to join the show as the new chasers.

According to the publication, ABC is in talks with Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter – who all previously competed in ABC's Jeopardy: The Greatest of All Time tournament – to become Chasers.

The network is also apparently talking to former Who Wants to Be a Millionaire contestants about being involved in the show.

Here in the UK, The Chase remains as popular as ever, having aired for 13 seasons since its premiere in 2009 and launched a new spin-off show called Beat the Chasers earlier this year.

Speaking about the future of Beat the Chasers, Anne Hegerty – aka The Governess – recently shared that everyone is "definitely looking to do more" as soon as possible.

"We knew when we were filming it that this was a really good show, we were saying to each other, 'This is really exciting, we are having such close finishes'," she said.

"We thought it would go down well but the ratings were just tremendous. I'm very glad that we got that under our belts before lockdown began – we filmed in late January and early February so it's brilliant we got it in."

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
