Chase Utley Severely Injures Ruben Tejada After Late Dirty Slide into Second Base in NLDS Game 2
During the seventh inning of Game 2 in the National League Division Series, Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley made a very dirty slide into New York Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada. It happened after the Dodgers Howie Kendrick hit a liner up the middle, and Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy fielded the ball and tossed it to Tejada, who had then tagged the second base on a forced out. The questionable late slide came from Utley into Tejada, which sent Tejada airborne, causing him to land awkwardly on his back and banged his head on the field. You can see the play here:

Tejada had to be carted off the field on a stretcher after Utley viciously took him out, WWE-style. Now Tejada's leg is broken. It's fair to say that Tejada will not be seeing any action anytime soon to help the Mets against the Dodgers for the rest of the series, or the playoffs for that matter, if New York advances beyond the NLDS.
And oh, Utley was ruled safe— even though he never touched the bag. The Dodgers won 4-2, and the series is now even 1-1.
