ChatGPT: What does the AI chatbot say about Bike Week, spring break and Sheriff Chitwood?
ChatGPT, the free online artificial intelligence tool, has recently taken the internet by storm. Within the first five days of its November launch, 5 million people had signed on.
GPT stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer and it was developed by San Francisco-based startup OpenAI.
After signing up on the company’s website for free, the user can ask the program questions and have a conversation about almost anything.

When asked how it works, the program responds, in part:
“It works by processing and understanding the user’s input and generating a response based on its pre-existing knowledge and training data … ChatGPT continuously learns and improves over time with more training data and user interactions.”
But what does it know or have to say about Volusia and Flagler counties? We asked ChatGPT a few questions and here are the responses.

Almost all of the chatbot’s answers are prefaced by its claim that “as an AI language model,” it does not have either personal experiences, preferences, emotions, opinions, biases or even taste buds.“According to common perceptions, Daytona Beach is known for being a popular destination for college students during spring break. The city is known for its beaches, nightlife and events specifically geared toward spring breakers,” it answered. “During this time, the beach and surrounding areas are often filled with young people enjoying the warm weather, partying and participating in various activities.
