Chatham argument ends in fatal shooitng; 1 charged

Jun. 26—An altercation earlier this month ended with one man dead and another charged with murder, according to a release from the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.

On June 16, deputies responded to the 3300 block of Christian Chapel Church Road in New Hill after receiving a trespassing complaint, the release said.

They arrived and found Brandon Wade Bryarley, 33, of Staley, dead from multiple gunshot wounds, the release said.

James Edward Fox, 47, of the 200 block of Vatersay Drive, Apex, has been charged with felony murder, according to the release.

Investigators say Fox fired on Bryarley after the two argued.

"Fox told investigators that he had an ongoing issue with strangers riding vehicles on his property and that Bryarley was riding a motorcycle on his land," the release said.

Fox is being held without bail in the Chatham County Detention Center and is to appear in Chatham County District Court on July 19.

The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 919-542-2911.
