Chatham County Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting that happened on Highway 80 near Fort Pulaski, injuring one person. The shooting occurred around 7:20 p.m.

According to the Chatham County Police Department, 38-year-old Adam Bauer was arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated assault, one for each of the six victims who were in the vehicle that was fired upon. He is being held at the Chatham County Detention Center.

The injured victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital.

The incident coincides with the return of Orange Crush to Tybee Island, the popular event billed as a beach bash for HBCU students across the South. As hundreds head to the beach, Chatham County Police has advised people to avoid Highway 80 on the islands and heading to Tybee as they deal with multiple car accidents and incidents.
