Chatham County Public Health Department offers COVID-19 vaccines for children under 5
PITTSBORO — The Chatham County Public Health Department (CCPHD) is offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 6 months to 5 years. The vaccine is being offered weekly for all individuals ages 6 months and older from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. All parents and guardians are asked to call the Siler City clinic at 919-742-5641 to set up an appointment.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention recently recommended the use of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines in children ages 6 months to 5 years, expanding the eligibility for vaccination to all individuals ages 6 months and older. The decision came after months of study and trials to ensure the vaccine’s effectiveness and safety in this newly eligible age group.

“We continue to encourage all who are eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine, including children 6 months to 5 years old,” said Mike Zelek, Chatham County public health director. “If you have questions about the vaccine, talk to your child’s doctor. And if you are looking for a place to get vaccinated, either for your child or yourself, we would be happy to serve you at our clinic in Siler City.”
