Chattanooga evangelist arrested in violation of order of protection

Jan. 25—A local faith leader was arrested this week for allegedly violating an order of protection related to his arrest in August for stalking a Walmart employee.

Timothy W. Meyer, 47, was arrested Monday shortly before 5 p.m. at his home on Spring Valley Lane in Chattanooga, after he attempted to contact the same Walmart employee via text message, according to an arrest report.

Meyer was charged with violation of an order of protection. He was being held Tuesday morning at Silverdale Detention Center. He was set to appear Tuesday before Judge Gerald Webb for a bond hearing.

Meyer is listed as the director of missions for E-VAN Ministries, an "international, faith-based mission organization that is focused on spreading love and hope to the world," according to the organization's website. Meyer has traveled with his ministry to Costa Rica, Mexico and Lebanon, the website says.

Meyer was previously arrested on Aug. 14 for stalking the same woman. During that arrest, he reportedly attempted to bite officers and was charged with stalking, resisting arrest, obstruction of legal process and criminal trespassing.
