Chattanooga man dies in crash on I-59 in St. Clair County cras

A Chattanooga man was killed early Wednesday morning in a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 59, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division.

Sean D. McKnight, 29, was driving a 2022 International box truck that crossed the median of Interstate 59 and collided head on with a 2020 Freightliner driven by Calvin Bell Jr., 20, of Bessemer.

After the initial collision, a 2005 Jeep Cherokee driven by James Brown, 58, of Ashville, swerved to avoid hitting the International and hit a ditch in the median.

McNight was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 4:10 a..m. near the 152-mile marker, about 2 miles south of Springville in St. Clair County.

Troopers continue to investigate.
