If you live in Washington state, you’re not imagining that the price of gas has been going up again.

Washingtonians have been paying an average of $4.58 per gallon statewide as of late April, according to AAA. Prices have been on the rise since January, when the state’s average cost per gallon was closer to $3.84.

The rest of the U.S. is currently paying around $3.63 per gallon for regular-grade gas. For drivers in the Olympia area, this would be a steal.

AAA finds that the average price of gas in Thurston County is about $4.62 per gallon. The automobile association’s estimates show that overall, the west side of the state has higher averages per county, with King County at a whopping $4.79 per gallon of regular gas.

But as prices continue to rise at the pump, many retailers in Thurston County are offering gas by the gallon below the state’s average. Fuel economy website GasBuddy provides information on locations selling cheap gas. Drivers can also download the GasBuddy app on their smartphone to search for affordable gas in their region.
