Is Cheba Hut's original location permanently closed in Tempe?

Questions have circulated on Facebook asking whether Cheba Hut's original location, which first opened in 1998 in Tempe, has permanently closed.

When Lance Turner saw the Tempe location marked as "permanently closed" on Google, he posted a photo on Facebook with the caption "for real?"

The location closed temporarily on Aug. 12 for renovations, per an announcement post on the Tempe Cheba Hut's Instagram account.

When will the Tempe Cheba Hut reopen?

It's unclear exactly when the location will reopen.

In response to questions about their reopening date on Instagram, chebahut_tempe responded: "maybe the end of sep or oct the whole inside of the store is getting renovated it’s gonna look amazing just bare with us we have other locations you can go to in the valley for now 😁."

The Arizona Republic has reached out for details regarding Cheba Hut's renovations and reopening, but there has been no response as of writing.

The nearest location to Cheba Hut in Tempe is its Mesa-Southern location at W. Southern Avenue and S. Dobson Road.
