Cheboygan Chamber to present annual State of the Community on Oct. 14

CHEBOYGAN — The Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce will host five speakers on Friday, Oct. 14, to present on progress and challenges in the community.

The annual State of the Community begins at 7 a.m. with a networking breakfast at the Cheboygan Fire Hall. The presentations will begin at 8 a.m. in the Cheboygan Opera House.

This year's speakers include:

  • Bob Pulte from Pulte Homes (Housing)

  • Presque Isle Electric and Gas (Connectivity and Broadband Expansion)

  • Jason Karmol, Director of Public Works for Cheboygan (Infrastructure and Water Treatment Facility)

  • North Central Michigan College (Childcare Grant and College Updates)

Carole Yeck, executive director of the Cheboygan Area Chamber of Commerce, said the highlight presentation will focus on Career and Technical Education Programs at Cheboygan Area High School, with teacher Ryan McClintic speaking about the school’s vocational programs and facilities.

“It’s a beautiful program,” Yeck said.

This year marks Yeck’s first State of the Community since joining the chamber, and she's “looking forward to sharing the progress in the Cheboygan community with all of our residents.”

“It’s a terrific networking opportunity for all of our organizations and business leaders and we hope to see everyone there,” she said.
