Cheboygan Major Girls win twice, advance to district final on Thursday

The Cheboygan Little League Major Girls All-Star softball team has advanced to Thursday’s District 13 championship clash in Rogers City thanks to victories over Tri Rivers and Rogers City on Monday and Tuesday. Cheboygan will face Wednesday’s Tri Rivers-Rogers City winner in the district final in Rogers City at 4 p.m. on Thursday. ROGERS CITY – The all-star softball season is off to a stellar start for the Cheboygan Little League Major Girls, who recently picked up victories in their District 13 tournament.

Beginning their tournament in Rogers City on Monday, the Cheboygan All Stars rolled to a 20-1 win over Tri Rivers.

Pacing Cheboygan was Abby Schulz, who earned the pitching win by throwing three innings, striking out six and allowing one hit.

At the plate, Bailey Blaskowski tripled and singled to lead the Cheboygan offense, while Lydia Kosanke, Nataleigh Blaisdell and Audrina Johnson each chipped in with a single.

The Cheboygan All Stars kept their momentum going into Tuesday, cruising to a 16-1 victory over Rogers City.

Cheboygan’s winning pitcher this time was Kosanke, who struck out eight, allowed no hits and walked none in a three-inning display.

Kosanke helped her cause at the plate, lacing three singles to lead Cheboygan. Blaisdell contributed with two singles.

With the wins, Cheboygan advances to face Wednesday’s Rogers City-Tri Rivers winner in a 4 p.m. district championship clash at Rogers City on Thursday.
