New to 500 W. Broadway in Core-Columbia is Luca Restaurant, a New American spot. So far, it's been well-received: it's got a 4.5-star rating out of 21 reviews on Yelp.
The upscale, all-patio restaurant is part of the outdoor courtyard at The Guild, a boutique hotel. It offers Chef Justin Vaiciunas’ creative-contemporary take on Mediterranean cuisine, with menu items like the puffy tacos with striped bass, Baja slaw, pico de gallo, avocado and pepper rouille, as well as beets with espresso, tzatziki and pistachio brittle.

Max & Demetri's Pizza
Max & Demetri's Pizza is a spot to score pies and more, that recently opened at 3934 30th St. in North Park. As noted on the eatery's Facebook page, the restaurant offers classic pizzas, original recipes and locally brewed craft beer.
On the menu, look for signature pies like the Fancy Pants with pear, gorgonzola, onions, prosciutto, arugula and egg; the Maximus Demetrius with bacon, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and green pepper; and the Fungazi with button, crimini and portabella mushrooms, ricotta, pecorino romano and truffle oil.
Roberto's Taco Shop
Roberto's Taco Shop is a breakfast and brunch spot, offering tacos and more, that recently opened its doors at 1858 Garnet Ave. in Pacific Beach.
Its menu features a variety of burritos, quesadillas, combination plates and tortas, alongside side orders of chiles rellenos, tamales and rice and beans. For breakfast, customers may dig into the carne asada breakfast burrito with potatoes, eggs, steak and cheddar cheese.
