Looking for a Bloomington-area sports summer camp for your young athlete?

Bloomington North, Bloomington South and Edgewood are offering a number of opportunities in several sports close to home.

Here's a rundown of what's on tap:

BASEBALL

Cougar Baseball Camps

The Cougar Baseball Camps will take place for middle schoolers (2021-22) on June 13-16 from 9 a.m.-noon and for boys in grades K-6 (2021-22) on June 20-23 from 9 a.m.-noon at Bloomington North.

Participants will play in game competition. Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals and fun while working on throwing, catching, fielding and hitting. Head coach Richard Hurt, staff and players will direct the camp. Participants need to bring a glove, bat and cleats. Baseball or sweat pants and cap recommended.

Cost is $100 for one child, $180 for two children and $255 for three family members, and includes camp T-shirt.

South Baseball Camp

Camp on June 27-30 for boys in grades 3-5 will take place from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with another session for those in grades 6-8 will run from 1-2:30 p.m.

Cost is $65.00. A special combined rate of $110 is available when combined with registration for the South Jr. Panther Basketball Camp (listing below)

BASKETBALL

North Elementary Boys Camp

The Cougar Basketball Camp for boys currently (2021-22) in K-6 grades will take place on May 24-26 at Bloomington North. The camp will focus on skill development and the establishment of proper fundamentals.

Cost is $50 for grades K-3 and $75 for grades 4-6 and includes a camp T-shirt. Register at: http://www.bloomingtonnorthbasketball.com.

The camp, conducted by head coach Jason Speer, his staff and players, will be split in two sessions: Grades K-3 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and grades 4-6 from 1:30-3:30 each afternoon. Pre-registration is highly encouraged.

North Middle School Boys Camp

The North Boys Basketball Camp for boys currently in grades 7-8 will take place May 31-June 3 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Bloomington North.

Cost is $100 and includes a camp T-shirt when you preregister at: http://www.bloomingtonnorthbasketball.com.

The camp, conducted by head coach Jason Speer and his staff will focus on individual skill development through varsity drills. Items of focus will include man-to-man defense concepts, and fundamentals including shooting, ball handling, and passing techniques. The players will also be introduced to North’s offense and defense.

In addition to the camp experience, many players will be asked to participate in summer league games at Twin Lakes Recreation Center against other local teams. Games are played (usually two games per night, per team) in the evenings on June 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, and 22. A tournament is also scheduled for current 8th graders at Martinsville High School June 11-12.

Jr. Panther Skills Academy

Sessions for boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 (for 2022-23) will take place June 1, 2, 6, 7, 14, 15, 20 and 22 at Bloomington South.

Sessions for those in grades 3-5 run from 6-7:15 p.m. each day and those from 6-8 graders will be from 7:15-8:30.

North Girls' Elementary Camp

The Bloomington North girls basketball program will be holding their Elementary Summer Camp for players currently in grades K-4 on June 13-14, 16 from 10-11:30 a.m. each day at North.

Cost is $50 and each participant who pre-registers by June 5 will receive a camp T-shirt. Pre-registration through the team website is highly encouraged. To register for camp and find out more information please visit: www.bloomingtonnorthgirlsbasketball.com.

Head coach Jeff Turmail, the high school coaching staff, and the current high school players will conduct the camp. The camp will focus on skill development and the establishment of proper fundamentals.

Lighthouse girls camp

The Lighthouse Christian Girls' Basketball Camp from players in grades 3-8 will take place June 13-17 with a scrimmage on June 18 at the school gym.

The session for players in grades 3-5 (upcoming school year) will be from 9-10:30 a.m. each day while the session for players in grades 6-8 will run from 10:30-noon.

Players should bring athletic clothes, tennis shoes and a water bottle. LCA dress code will be followed.

Jr. Panther Basketball Camp

This camp for boys and girls in grades 3-8 (for 2022-23 school year) will run from June 27-30 at Bloomington South.

Fee is $65, with a discounted rate when combined with the South Baseball Camp (see listing above).

Lighthouse boys camp

The Lighthouse Christian Boys' Basketball Camp from players in grades 3-8 will take place July 11-15 at the school gym.

The session for players in grades 3-5 (upcoming school year) will be from 3:30-5 p.m. each day while the session for players in grades 6-8 will run from 5-6:30 p.m.

Players should bring athletic clothes, tennis shoes and a water bottle. LCA dress code will be followed.

Eastern Greene Girls' Camps

The Eastern Greene high school girls' basketball program will hold a camp July 25-28 at the high school gym.

There will be three sessions, with athletes in grades K-2 from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; grades 3-4 from 12:15-1:30 p.m. and grades 5-8 at 1:30-2:45. Camp will be led by the Eastern Greene coaching staff and players.

Football

Mustang Youth Camp

Edgewood's football team will hold its Mustang Youth Team Camp for children in grades 1-8 on July 25-29 from 10 a.m.-noon each day on Edgewood's famous red turf.

The camp will feature head coach Caleb True and members of the Edgewood varsity staff and current players. They will provide position specific instruction in football techniques and skills with a special family event on the final day.

Players will begin learning the basic fundamentals and techniques necessary for success at all levels of competition.

2022 LCA Boys Basketball Camp

When: Monday, July 11 - Friday, July 15

Girls' Summer Stickwork

Free sessions for middle school and high school girls organized by the Bloomington Pride will take place throughout the summer. No experience, equipment, cost or obligation required.

VOLLEYBALL

Eastern Greene Camp

Eastern Greene’s high school volleyball program will be putting on a camp June 6-9 from 9:30-11 a.m. each day at the Middle School gym for any interested incoming players in grades 7-8. Cost is $30 per camper.

The camp will consist of fundamentals, team building activities, 1-on-1 skill building and an opportunity to further an athlete's volleyball knowledge.

North Total Skills Camps

This camp is for all volleyball players, boys or girls, beginners or seasoned veterans and takes place June 20-24.

Sessions on June 20-23 from 10 a.m.-noon will take place for children in grades 1-6 ($50) and for grades 7-8 ($80). A special elite camp for freshmen ($95, positions limited) will take place those same days from 9-noon.

On June 24 from 9-10 a.m. a setter's speed session ($20) and a libero's pit session ($20) will take place.

A camp tournament for the players in grades 7-9 will take place from 10-noon.

Lighthouse girls volleyball camp

The Lighthouse Girls' Volleyball Camp will take place June 27-July 1 for players in grades 3-8 (for 2022-23) at the school gym.

The sessions for players in grades 3-5 will run from 9-10:30 a.m. and the session for grades 6-8 will run from 10:30-noon each day.

Campers should bring athletic clothes, tennis shoes and a water bottle. LCA dress code will be followed.

WRESTLING

Edgewood Camps

The Edgewood wrestling program is holding a couple of free youth camps the week of June 20-24.

A session for girls in grades K-12 will run from 10-11 each day, with a session for beginning boys in grades K-12 will run from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

The Girls' Wrestle Too Camp is open to the first 50 to sign up. Instructors include former Bloomington South (two-time state champ) and current Campbellsville University wrestler Ciera Broukal and Edgewood senior standout Rylie Austin. Register at www.edgewoodwrestling.com.

The Boys' Beginning Camp is open to the first 50 who signup and is for wrestlers new to the sport. Instruction will be led by head coach Greg Ratliff and his team. Register at www.edgewoodwrestling.com.
