Check out these corn-centered dishes at four different Shreveport restaurants

Corn seems to be on everyone's mind after a viral video of a little boy talking about his love for corn hit the internet. So to celebrate the vegetable, I found some restaurants in Shreveport that have corn-centered dishes to try.

Ki' Mexico

Chef Eleazar Mondragon's (Ki' Mexico) two piri-piri chicken tacos, topped with a cured jalapeño and cucumber salad and fresh cilantro. Served with spiced potatoes.

While most people head to this popular Mexican spot for the tacos, Ki' Mexico also has a popular appetizer called elote that shouldn't be skipped. Corn on the cob is taken up a notch with additions of Mexican mayo, cotija cheese, chili powder and a touch of lime.

Pair the elote with one of their many specialty tacos like the Silvestre that has sautéed potatoes and mushrooms mixed with corn and kale on a corn tortilla, or the poblano that has chicken mixed with poblano peppers, mushrooms and corn on a flour tortilla.

Ki' Mexico is located at 3839 Gilbert Dr. in Shreveport and is open Sunday 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., Tuesday - Thursday 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday - Saturday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Copeland's of New Orleans

One of Shreveport's favorite spots is Copeland's and a permanent staple on the menu is the corn and crab bisque. This comfort food is filled with delicious crab, fresh corn and green onions in a sweet cream bisque.

The dish is part of the soups and salads section and can be ordered as a full bowl or as a side to one of their salads like the penthouse with tomatoes, eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, homemade croutons and your choice of dressing.

Copeland's of New Orleans is located at 1665 E. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport and open Sunday - Thursday

Up For Brunch

Being in Louisiana, it only makes sense to add in a southern staple, and Up for Brunch has combined cheesy southern grits with Cajun shrimp or catfish for the ultimate combination.

Choose either jumbo shrimp or catfish strips to be served in the signature Cajun cream sauce over a steaming bowl of country cheese grits. Top off the meal with a serving of two mini Belgian cornbread waffles served with warm honey butter.

Up For Brunch is located at 1520 Texas Ave. in Shreveport and open Friday - Monday 7:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Frank's Louisiana Kitchen

This favorite seafood spot has plenty on their menu to get excited about, but when it comes to corn, you can't skip out on a starter of charred corn hushpuppies. This classic seafood side is kicked up a notch with a chive-poblano remoulade and a Louisiana hot sauce gastrique.

Order these to prepare you for other great dishes like the seafood crepes filled with scallops, shrimp and redfish in a savory fennel cream sauce or the shrimp Étoufée served over basmati rice with a side of Leidenheimer French bread.

And don't miss out on seeing Chef Sean Sullivan in action competing for the Golden Fork at this years Louisiana Food Prize.
