If you're looking for something fun and family-friendly to do this fall, there's plenty to choose from around Cleveland County.

There are festivals, farms and fairs to visit and so much more.

Cleveland County Fair

1751 E. Marion St., Shelby

Sept. 28 through Oct. 8

Tickets at the gate are $10 for adults, children $5 and seniors $5.

Advance tickets can be purchased online from the website, clevelandcountyfair.com.

The fair is open from 3 to 11 p.m. each weekday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays.

Shelby Corn Maze

Eight-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch and over 40 attractions.

Open Sept. 16 through Oct. 29.

Haunted corn maze open after dark every Friday and Saturday in October.

Farm admission $15, haunted pass $15 and farm and haunt pass $22

Cornbread and Tortillas

Cleveland County Arts Council presents “A Taste of Cornbread & Tortillas” at 6 p.m. on Oct. 5 at the Cleveland County Art's Council, 111 S. Washington St., Shelby.

The free program by Cornbread & Tortillas is a collective of Appalachian and Latino artists based in Kentucky whose mission is to build community by sharing art, music, dance, and cultural heritage. Through outreach events, educational shows, workshops, and performances they celebrate our similarities and differences to create unity in a diverse world.

The Arts Council is pleased to bring this exciting group from Lexington, Kentucky to share their mission, their heritage, music and food. Samples of Appalachian and Latino foods will be served. Children are welcome.

The centerpiece of their work together is the CORNBREAD & TORTILLAS theatrical show, a dynamic bilingual production that features stories, music, and dancing. Audiences will journey from the Appalachian region of Eastern Kentucky to Mexico, Nicaragua, Ecuador, and beyond, exploring connections and celebrating our shared human experience all the while.

Broad River 5K and 10 mile race

Sat., Oct. 7 at 8 a.m.

126 Broad River Dr., Boiling Springs

Both the 10 mile and 5K races start at 8 a.m. at the ranger station.

$30 advance registration and $35 day of race

Packet pickup is the Friday before the race from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ranger Station, 126 Broad River Road, Boiling Springs

Hike with the C.A.R.E. Doggies

Saturday, Oct. 7, from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Kings Mountain Gateway Trail, 807 S. Battleground Ave., Kings Mountain

Come out and hike with rescue dogs for CARE's second annual fall hike of the season. Hike with dogs who are up for adoption and help give them exercise, work on social skills and get out in public.

Furry Friends Fall Fotos

Saturday, Oct. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at RollOver Pets.

Come experience a fun new photo opportunity for you and your furry friends.

RollOver Pets will open their doors along with Clifford's Army Rescue to host Furry Friends Fall Fotos. Come inside RollOver Pets with your furry friends between 9 a.m. and noon and have a photo made for $10 with a fall or Halloween background.

Apple Butter Festival of Aldersgate United Methodist Church

1207 W. Dixon Blvd., Shelby

Oct. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This annual festival features food, fun and fellowship. Food vendors will be serving breakfast, lunch, baked goods, ice cream and, of course, apple butter. There will also be live bands performing all day, a classic car cruise-in and activities for children of all ages. All proceeds benefit community needs and global missions.

Liver Mush Festival - Mush, Music and Mutts

Saturday, Oct. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

More than 80 vendors, live music, kid zone, pet activities and more.

There will be a pet costume contest, liver mush recipe and cooking competition, live music by several artists including Larry & Joe and plenty of liver mush.

Laughter is the Best Medicine 3: The Karens

The annual comedy night and fundraiser for HealthCare Foundation of Cleveland County will be held Don Gibson Theater, 318 S. Washington St., Shelby, at 8 p.m. on Nov. 10.

Get ready to enjoy a night out with friends, laughter and fun all to benefit health and wellness programs in Cleveland County. The annual family-friendly comedy night makes its return to the Don Gibson Theatre with two great acts.

“Laughter Is The Best Medicine 3" features "The Karens" headlining the night.

Karen Mills is a former NCAA basketball player and touring comedian for over 25 years. She looks for the funny in every situation. Even ovarian cancer couldn't stop her from turning pain into punchlines! She can be heard daily on Sirius XM Radio and has performed at the Grand Ole Opry.

Karen Morgan is a former trial attorney from Athens, Georgia, and was a finalist on Nickelodeon's Search for he Funniest Mom in America. Still licensed to practice law in Maine and Georgia, Karen's take on every day life will keep you laughing. She can also be heard daily in Sirius XM Radio.

Second Annual Hounds at Hanna Festival

Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hanna Park, 1655 McBrayer Springs Rd., Shelby

The second annual Hounds at Hanna is going to be even bigger and better than before. There will be a 5K, fun run/walk, and dogs are welcome to run or walk with participants. There will be awards, event tees, prizes, vendors and food trucks. A bouncy house and slide will be on-site for kids as well as face painting, a balloon artist and photos of two legged and four legged kids with Santa Clause and/or the Grinch. A DJ will be playing your favorite hits.
