Waukee Halloween Open House

4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 at Waukee Public Safety Building.

Fill up your candy bags, explore the fire trucks and say hello to your Waukee police officers and firefighters at the Public Safety Building. Bring the whole family for some friendly Halloween fun. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Trunk or Treat

5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 at Dallas County Fairgrounds Livestock Building, Adel.

Minburn 4-H Club will host a Trunk or Treat event on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Dallas County Fairgrounds. The event will feature games and activities, face painting, picture booth, raffle baskets and more.

Spooktacular Downtown Trick-or-Treat Walk

4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 in downtown Perry.

Enjoy a Spooktacular Trick-or-Treat Walk in downtown Perry on Oct. 27. This event, sponsored by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, includes safe trick-or-treating with local businesses and community organizations. Willis Avenue (from 1st to 3rd) and 2nd Street (from Otley to Pattee) will be closed to vehicles during the event. Parking will be available at city lots (Caboose Park and near the post office) as well as side streets. Participants should enter at intersections and stay to the right to follow the designated one-way route through the downtown area. Find a map on the Perry Chamber's Facebook page. Perry's citywide trick-or-treating will follow from 6-8 p.m.

Safe and Healthy Halloween

5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Dallas County Hospital, Perry.

Dallas County Hospital's Safe and Healthy Halloween will return to an indoor format, with families entering through the north entrance and being guided through to different giveaway stations, eventually exiting a different door which also faces the north parking lot. Healthy treats and trinkets will be handed out to the kiddos and a limited number of water bottles will be given away to adults to encourage hydration. The event FREE to attend, while supplies last.

Safe Trick or Treat

5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Aspire of Perry Nursing Home.

Trick or Treat Bash

5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Granger Nursing and Rehab. Join Granger Nursing and Rehab in its front parking lot for trick-or-treating and hot chocolate with residents. The event is open to the community.

Candy Parade

6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Perry Lutheran Homes. Kids and families are invited to Perry Lutheran Homes' Candy Parade. Residents will be passing out some sweet treats at King's Gardens Campus and Eden Acres Campus. Costumes for the kiddos are encouraged.

Pumpkin Festival

6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27 at Crossroads Church, Perry. The second annual Pumpkin Festival will feature candy, games and activities for kids of all ages. The event will be held outdoors on the Crossroads Lawn and will be moved inside in the event of rain.

Bouton Haunted Church

7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 27-28 at 109 South St., Bouton. Come support Bouton Fire Department by getting spooked at the Haunted Church. Kid-friendly if requested. Admission is $5 and all proceeds will go directly to the Bouton Fire Department. A trunk or treat event will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Breakfast Fundraiser

7-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Washington Township School, Corner of P58 and 210 St.

A breakfast will be served on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Washington Township School. The menu will include biscuits and gravy, hash browns, sausage, scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls and drink. A free-will donation will be taken with proceeds going to maintain and improve the school.

Trick or Treat at Hy-Vee

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Perry Hy-Vee.

Join Perry Hy-Vee on Saturday, Oct. 28 for fun Halloween activities for the whole family. Costumes are encouraged.

National Drug Takeback Day

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Perry Police Department, 908 Willis Ave.

Members of the Perry Police Department will be accepting your expired and unused medications on Saturday, Oct. 28. Over the counter medications will also be taken. No aerosols or sharps will be accepted.

Elks Hoop Shoot

11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 28 at Perry High School Gym.

Perry Elks Lodge #407 will host the Elks Hoop Shoot on Saturday, Oct. 28. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for registration followed by the contest at 11 a.m. at the Perry High School Gym. The free throw contest is open to all boys and girls ages 8-13. Contestants must be this age on April 1, 2024. Call Travis at 712-229-6331 for more information.

Community Halloween Party

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Little Bridge Park.

Join the De Soto Public Library and Fire Department for a bonfire, hot dog roast, costume contest, games, crafts and prizes. All ages welcome. Wear your best costume for the costume contest.

Halloween Hayday Parade

3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 in Dallas Center.

The Dallas Center Seasonal Fun Committee will host the Halloween Hayday Parade at 3 p.m., starting at Mound Park. The event also features chili dogs for a free-will donation at the fire station from 3:30 to 6 p.m., DC Betterment Foundation Pumpkin Walk from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. (Heritage Park down Walnut Street), spooky golf and photo opp at the DC Library from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The city's trick-or-treating will follow from 6 to 8 p.m.

Woodward Trunk or Treat

5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at High Trestle Trailhead Parking Lot. The annual Trunk or Treat will feature trunks, treats and more in a new location.

Adel Trick-or-Treating

6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 around Adel.

St. Paul Lutheran Church Soup Supper

6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bouton.

St. Paul Lutheran Church will be serving soup (chili and potato soup) and hot dogs on Saturday, Oct. 28. Come and enjoy before going to the Haunted Church. Proceeds to go to women's group of the church.

Halloween Party

6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at Drifters, Bouton.

Drifters will host a Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 28 with drink specials and prizes.

Trunk-or-Drink

7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at 5th Quarter Bar & Grill, Van Meter.

5th Quarter will host its second Trunk-or-Drink, which is a 21+ event, on Saturday, Oct. 28. Participants (21+) will tour all the trunks, sample the secret drinks and vote for their favorite. Entry to sample and vote is $10 per person. Funds raised from this event will be used to support community development projects with VMCDC.

Ham & Egg Breakfast

7-11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at Jamaica Community Building.

Jamaica Lions Club's famous Ham & Egg Breakfast will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29 at the Jamaica Community Building. The meal includes the works: eggs to order & country fried potatoes. Hunters welcome. Bring used eyeglasses and hearing aids. The Lions fund all kinds of community projects.

Cruising for a Cause

1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 starting at Dallas County Sheriff's Office, 28985 Thin Blue Line Lane, Adel.

The first Cruising for a Cause will be presented by Dallas County Sheriff's Benevolent Association on Sunday, Oct. 29. Line up will start at 12:30 p.m. at the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. The cruise starts at 1 p.m. and will end at the Sinclair Station in Perry. Vehicles will parade through Spurgeon Manor Retirement Communities. Anyone with a sweet looking ride (car, truck, van, motorcycle) are encouraged to participate. A free-will donation will be taken with proceeds going to fund the Benevolent Association's Shop with a Cop and food basket programs.

Granger Trunk or Treat

12 to 1:30 p.m. at EMC Church Parking Lot and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at Assumption Church Parking Lot.

Halloween in Redfield

3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at Redfield City Park.

The Halloween event will feature hot chocolate, s'mores, inflatables, games and Trunk or Treat. The city's trick-or-treating will follow from 5 to 7 p.m.

Halloween Party

4-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at Adel Acres. Residents will pass out candy and vote for their favorite costume. One grand prize will be awarded.

University Kids Haunted House

6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at 111 Desoto Rd, Van Meter. Come walk through University Kids' haunted hallway. The event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. Candy will be handed out at the end for those who survive.

Van Meter United Methodist Church Trunk or Treat

6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 at Van Meter United Methodist Church. The annual Trunk or Treat event will feature decorated trunks, candy, bounce houses, crafts, games, music, homemade donuts and cider and more. All are welcome to this free, family-friendly event.

Granger Trick-or-Treating

6-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30 around Granger.

Beggars' Night will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 in Granger.

Minburn Trunk or Treat

5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31 on Baker Street, downtown Minburn.

The Minburn Public Library invites community members to participate in Trunk or Treat. Set-up starts at 5 p.m. Trunk decoration is encouraged but not required. There will be a prize for the trunk that receives the most votes. The fire department will serve hotdogs, the library will have chips and water bottles while the Legion will have s'mores. This event will be in addition to traditional trick-or-treating, which will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Woodward Trick-or-Treating

6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 around Woodward.

In addition to citywide trick-or-treating, the Woodward Lions Club will be serving hot dogs and hot chocolate and passing out candy and free books at the Woodward Social Center. The fire department will be handing out goodies. Bouquets by Beth will be handing out free Halloween balloons while supplies last at 122 Main St. Weyers Music Studio will hold a trick or treat event at the public piano across from the bank.

Van Meter Trick-or-Treating

6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31 around Van Meter.

In addition to citywide trick-or-treating, Van Meter Parks and Rec will be handing out candy at Memorial Park. Van Meter Baptist Church invites the community to its Star Wars Fall Festival, which will feature fun, games and snacks.

Craft and Bake Sale

Nov. 4-5 at Panther Creek Church of the Brethren,  24529 J. Ave. Adel.

Panther Creek Church of the Brethren will host a craft and bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday Nov. 4. The craft and bake sale with a soup luncheon will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5. A free-will donation will be taken. The church is located 10 miles south of Perry.

Edgewater Holiday Mart

9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at 9225 Cascade Avenue, West Des Moines (Near Jordan Creek Mall).

Over 30 local artists and vendors, all inside. Choose your gifts from: watercolor paintings, fiber arts, jewelry, fused and stained glass, ISU and U of I carved snowmen, carved Santas, wooden toys and pens, pottery, cutting boards, kaleidoscopes, notecards, poetry prints, scarves, pillows, woven baskets, knitted socks, cheese boards, flower centerpieces, lotions, goat milk products, honey, jams and jellies, candy wreaths, gourmet nuts and popcorn, fudge and peanut brittle and baked goods.

Woodward Social Center Luncheon

11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6 at Woodward Social Center.

The Woodward Social Center will serve a luncheon on Monday, Nov. 6. The menu includes mostaccioli pasta, garlic bread, lettuce salad and dessert. A free-will offering will be taken to support the Woodward Social Center.
