Check your lottery tickets. Unclaimed $1 million prize expires soon in Washington

A lucky player in Washington scored a $1 million Powerball win during a Nov. 7 drawing, but they never claimed their prize.

Now the winner has a little over a week to come forward with the ticket, which is set to expire May 6, Washington’s Lottery said in a news release.

The agency asked the public to double check Powerball lottery tickets from that drawing.

The winning ticket was bought at a Maverik gas station in Airway Heights, and it matched all five white balls — 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56 — but missed the red Powerball 10.

Winners “have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize,” according to the release.

If this player doesn’t claim their ticket by 5 p.m. May 6, it will expire and that money will go toward education in Washington, lottery officials said.

A $10,000 prize from a Match 4 game is also set to expire soon. The winning ticket was bought at a Safeway in Puyallup, and the player has until May 19 to claim it.

Powerball is played in 45 states; Washington, D.C.; Puerto Rico; and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times vary from state to state. Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Airway Heights is about 10 miles west of Spokane.
