The Oldham County High School, Highlands and South Oldham boys golf teams advanced as the top three finishers in Monday’s KHSAA First Round Championships at Heritage Hill Golf Course in Shepherdsville.

Oldham County finished with a team score of 13-over-par 301 and was followed by Highlands (318), South Oldham (321) and Covington Catholic (323) in the team standings.

Heritage Hill was one of three first-round sites in the state, with the top three teams at each site earning spots in the final rounds of the state championships set for Oct. 4-5 at Bowling Green Country Club.

Leading the way for Oldham County was Miles Green with a 1-over-par 73. Isaac Moody (75), Colt McConnaughy (76) and Tyler Wirth (77) rounded out the scoring for the Colonels.

Leading the way for South Oldham was Will Ashy with a 72. He was followed by Griffin Barke (80), Caleb King (82) and Colton Woosley (87).

The top 15 individuals not among the top three teams also qualified for next week’s action in Bowling Green.

Trinity’s Ben Wulkopf and Christian Academy’s Brady Smith both shot 2-under 70s to lead individuals. Smith made a 15-foot eagle putt in a playoff with Wulkopf to take medalist honors.

Other advancing among the top 15 individuals were Grayson County’s Jackson Mayes (73), Ryle’s Tanner Lorms (74), LaRue County’s Carson Childress (74), Ballard’s Micah Bertram (74), Newport Central Catholic’s Caleb Eaglin (75), Spencer County’s Seth Shelley (76), Covington Catholic’s Nathan Resing (76), Collins’ Sam Guest (77), Trinity’s William Hudson (78), Covington Catholic’s Mitchell Gastright (78), Bullitt Central’s Matt Hagan (78), St. Xavier’s Abe Williams (78) and St. Xavier’s Luke Daley (79).

Teams advancing from the other two first-round sites were Taylor County (301 team score), Bowling Green (306) and Marshall County (310) at Owensboro Country Club and Pulaski County (301), Madison Central (305) and Lexington Christian (310) from Winchester Country Club.
