Check your Mega Millions tickets: Wrong number announced in Tuesday's $86M jackpot drawing

If you had a ticket for the May 10 Mega Millions drawing, you might want to hold onto it and check your numbers again.

The Mega Millions website issued a statement Wednesday saying the host of the Mega Millions, John Crow, announced Tuesday's drawing incorrectly, calling the Mega Ball, the sixth and final ball announced, a 6 instead of a 9. The first five numbers – 15, 19, 20, 61 and 70 – were called correctly.

The 9 Mega Ball was drawn into the chamber and is the official result. The results of the drawing were audited by Preston CPA.

Mega Millions inserted a correction into a YouTube video of the drawing.

"The 9 ball was drawn in the chamber and is the official result," the caption reads. "We apologize for the confusion."

The jackpot was an estimated $86 million with a cash option of $49.1 million, according to the Mega Millions website.

When is the next Mega Millions drawing?

Drawings are every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The next drawing is this Friday, May 13. If no winning ticket is claimed from Tuesday's drawing, the estimated jackpot is $99 million with a cash payout estimated at $57 million.

The New York Lottery posted on its website that all prize payments from Tuesday's drawing have been suspended and all people who purchased a ticket for the drawing should hold onto it "until the issue is resolved."
