Check your numbers! $50,000 Powerball ticket sold near Sun City as jackpot climbs to $613M

A lucky lottery player won $50,000 from a Powerball ticket purchased this weekend in the Okatie area — but the steadily growing jackpot still remains unclaimed.

The ticket came from Food Lion on Okatie Village Drive near Sun City, and the prize was revealed through Saturday night’s winning numbers. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

Monday night’s drawing gives South Carolina players another chance to score the jackpot, which recently jumped to $613 million.

To secure the $50,000 prize, the local player correctly guessed numbers for four of the white balls, whose values range from 1 to 69, as well as the special red Powerball, which ranges from 1 to 26.

Even if it’s not the jackpot, the odds of winning even the $50,000 prize are extremely slim: 1 in 913,129, according to Powerball’s official website. Odds of winning the current $613 million jackpot are 1 in 293 million.

More than 26,000 players in South Carolina are still holding tickets for prizes from $4 up to $50,000, according to a Saturday press release from the South Carolina Education Lottery. Prizes can be claimed up to 180 days after the drawing date.
