Check out the new principals in Bossier Parish

With the first day of school less than a day away, Bossier Parish School Board would like to introduce parents and students to the new principals of the district.

This year Bossier Parish School District is welcoming six new principals. These principals will be calling Benton High School, Parkway High School, Greenacres High School, WT Lewis Elementary School, Meadowview Elementary School and Plantation Park Elementary School home.

Benton High School

Benton High School will be welcoming Whitney Clark as the new principal. Clark has been serving the students and staff of Benton High School for last seven years as the assistant principal.

Clark has been working in education for the last 18 years, and said she is excited to serve the students and staff as the new Benton High School Principal.

Clark began teaching social studies at Benton High School in 2012 and was appointed assistant principal in 2016.

Parkway High School

Parkway High School will be welcoming Steven Vrbka as the new principal. Vrbka has been an educator for the past 14 years.

Vrbka started his career as a teacher and coach at Northwood High School and then moved to Parkway High School where he taught math and was the cross country and baseball coach.

Following his time at Parkway High School Vrbka went on to Airline High School, where he taught and served as the football and baseball coach. Vrbka returned to Parkway High School a couple of years ago where he became Assistant Principal.

Greenacres Middle School

Afiya Code will be entering her 24th year in education and will be serving as the principal of Greenacres Middle School. Code began her career in Morehouse Parish before moving to north Louisiana.

After moving north Code taught nine years in Caddo Parish at Linear Middle School, Caddo Middle Career and Technology School (formerly Hollywood Middle) and Turner Elementary/ Middle School. Code then moved from Caddo to Greenacres Middle School where she taught 7th grade ELA for three years.

In 2012, she became the Curriculum Coach for Rusheon Middle School, followed by the ELA Curriculum Coordinator grades 6th-8th. Recently, she served as the Assistant Principal at Cope Middle School.

WT Lewis Elementary School

WT Lewis Elementary School will be welcoming Shuntay Wilson, who has been in education for the last 17 years.

Wilson has taught grades three through five in Bossier and Caddo Parish and has served as an Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal at Stockwell Place.

Meadowview Elementary School

Jason Ogunyemi will be starting his 16th year in education as the principal of Meadowview Elementary School. Ogunyemi spent his first 11 years at Plantation Park Elementary School where he taught 5th grade.

Following his time at Plantation Park Elementary School he moved to Rusheon Middle School where he served as Administrative Assistant.

Prior to be named the principal of Plantation Park Elementary School, Ogunyemi has been serving as its Assistant Principal for the past four years.

Plantation Park Elementary School is getting Rachael Stroud as its new principal. "I am honored to be the new Principal at Plantation Park Elementary," said Stroud.

Stroud began her career as a para at Airline High School in 2006. She then went on to teach 4th and 5th at Benton Elementary School, Legacy Elementary School and Kingston Elementary School. At Kingston Elementary School she served as the RTI Coach.

For the past for four years Stroud has been serving as Assistant Principal at Bossier Elementary.
