The Dolphins' first pick in this year's draft isn't until the second round, 51st overall. No problem, if they make a pick as inspired as the fine 15 listed here. Here are the best 15 second-rounders in Dolphins history:

1. C Dwight Stephenson, Alabama (1980)

Automatic choice for No. 1. Taken 48th overall, played entire career with the Dolphins, making All-Pro four consecutive years. Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

2. WR Mark Duper, Northwestern (La.) State (1982)

Taken 52nd overall and had zero catches as a rookie. Then, he caught fire, with four 1,000-yard seasons and 59 total touchdown receptions, all with the Dolphins. Half of the record-setting Marks Brothers tandem with Mark Clayton. Three Pro Bowls.

3. CB Xavien Howard, Baylor (2016)

Taken 38th, led NFL with 10 interceptions in 2020. Four Pro Bowls, 28 total INTs.

4. CB Sam Madison, Louisville (1987)

Taken 44th, had 31 INTs in nine seasons with the Dolphins. Four Pro Bowls, two-time All-Pro. Currently coaching Dolphins’ secondary.

5. LB John Offerdahl, Western Michigan (1986)

Taken 52nd, made Pro Bowl first five NFL seasons and joins Nick Buoniconti and Zach Thomas in Dolphins’ strong lineage at middle linebacker. Spent entire eight-year career in Miami.

6. NT Bob Baumhower, Alabama (1977)

Taken 40th, former Palm Beach Gardens High standout made five Pro Bowls during nine seasons as he and A.J. Duhe anchored Miami’s defense. Had 39.5 sacks from interior line.

7. WR Jarvis Landry, LSU (2014)

Taken 63rd, had 4,038 receiving yards in four seasons with the Dolphins before being traded. Made three Pro Bowls with Miami.

8. S Jevon Holland, Oregon (2021)

Taken 36th, has played only two NFL seasons thus far, so call this a provisional ranking.

9. G Keith Sims, Iowa State (1990)

Taken 39th, made three Pro Bowls in eight seasons with the Dolphins. Joined OT Richmond Webb on left side of line to make sure nobody touched Dan Marino.

10. WR Chris Chambers, Wisconsin (2001)

Also taken 52nd. Had 5,688 yards and 43 TDs in seven seasons as a Dolphin. Pro Bowl pick in 2005.

11. TE Mike Gesicki, Penn State (2018)

Taken 42nd, had 2,617 receiving yards and 18 TDs in five seasons before signing with New England in free agency this year.

12. G Rob Hunt, Louisiana (2020)

Taken 39th, became immediate starter for the Dolphins. Should contend for Pro Bowl honors in 2023.

13. C Tim Ruddy, Notre Dame (1994)

Taken 65th, started 140 games over 10 seasons in Miami, making Pro Bowl in 2000.

14. S Jarvis Williams, Florida (1988)

Taken 42nd, had 14 INTs, seven fumble recoveries and 513 tackles in six seasons starting in Miami’s secondary.

15. TE Jim Mandich, Michigan (1970)

Taken 29th, played eight seasons with the Dolphins and later became most popular broadcaster in team history.
