Yoga instructor Tara Scheller leads seniors in chair yoga May 25 at the James F. Galgano Senior Center in Sleepy Hollow. The village provides free exercise classes to the seniors and supports activities like bingo, knitting and a monthly trip.

The Tarrytown Fire Department Color guard passes American flags May 29 on the Sleepy Hollow Middle High School lawn during the Memorial Day Parade. Armando "Chick" Gallela, the beloved Pearl Harbor survivor who died in 2021, had spearheaded the project to display the flags on the lawn every Memorial Day and Veterans Day. The Rotary Club of the Tarrytowns sponsors it.

The Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow Farmers Market, known as the TaSH, opened for its ninth summer season May 27 in Patriot's Park, which borders the two villages. Every Saturday from May to November, the market has more than 30 vendors and musical entertainment for families.

Department of Public Works - Highway Department employees Clarence Sharrock, 32, left, and Chuck DePaolo, 40, paint the crosswalk May 31 near the Valley Business District in Sleepy Hollow. Sharrock has been working for the village for 10 years and DePaolo has for 20 years.

Village photographer Margaret Fox covers the Memorial Day Parade on May 29 in Patriot's Park. Fox, who has been photographing events in the community since 2006, said, "It's a privilege to photograph my community. I particularly enjoy getting to know the village employees as well as my neighbors."

The lighthouse restoration project continues May 31 in Sleepy Hollow's Kingsland Point Park. The lighthouse dates back to 1883 and can be viewed from RiverWalk.

Beekman Avenue.

Ovidio Flores, 74, stops traffic May 31 as students cross Beekman Avenue in Sleepy Hollow. Flores, who has been a crossing guard for 12 years, says he took this post-retirement job to stay active. He said it keeps him going and he likes to help the kids stay safe.

Five members of the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department have over 50 years of active service. Richard Green, 77, left, (active 53 years), Richard Gross, 68, (active 50 years) and William Hennessey, 75, (active 57 years) are pictured June 1 at the Rescue Hose Fire Co station in Sleepy Hollow. Charles DePaolo and Robert Moon, not pictured, also have over 50 years of active service.

Cristina Lombardi reads books during storytime June 1 at the Sleepy Hollow Bookshop. Owner Leah Bloom opened the children's bookstore in 2022 as a place for the community to gather over books and coffee.

"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" author Washington Irving's gravesite is marked by American flags June 1 in the historic Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
