This is all about learning how to perform in public and share your work. If you have never participated in a poetry slam before, no need to fear! The rules are simple. Poems can be on any (library appropriate) subject or in any style, each poet must perform their own work, and no props, costumes, or music will be used. This is a casual event, so there will be no microphone and, if anyone gets stage fright, Miss Laura or someone else can perform their poem for them. Participants will be supportive and secretly vote to award prizes in categories such as “Most Emotional,” “Funniest” and “My Favorite.” For questions, visit www.perry.lib.ia.us, call the library or Youth Services Librarian Laura Pieper at (515) 465-3569 or e-mail lpieper@perry.lib.ia.us.
