The following is a list of Hometeam boys' soccer all-stars, as selected by the staff at the Telegram & Gazette.
These also are all nominees for the boys' soccer Player of the Year for the Central Mass. High School Sports Awards, presented by DCU, to be held in the spring. The winner will be the announced at the show. More details about the program are coming soon.
During the live show, these nominees will be honored, along with the top three finalists and the Player of the Year. All official nominees can receive a free ticket. Check back later in the year for information on how to RSVP.
The Central Mass High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.
Kwame Adu-Gyamfi
St. John’s, Senior, Midfielder
His most memorable moment was during the team’s 7-0 win against Wellesley in the second round of the state tournament. Overall, he registered 15 goals and 18 assists during his career for the Pioneers. The 5-foot-8, 155-pound midfielder notched seven goals and 12 assists this season. The senior captain was named Co-Player of the Year in the Catholic Conference, United States Coaches All-Fall New England Regional Team, Eastern Mass. all-star, All-Catholic Conference, and Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic. He also earned T&G All-Star honors for indoor track as a freshman. His hobbies include going to the gym, playing the piano and reading. Adu-Gyamfi will attend Northeastern in the fall and major in criminal justice. He wants to become a lawyer. He is the son of Stella and Edward Adu-Gyamfi of Jefferson.
Max Deschaine
Algonquin Regional, Senior, Center back
The senior captain had three goals and one assist this season. His most memorable moment came during the team’s victory with a last-minute goal in extra time in the MIAA playoffs against Acton-Boxborough. His hobbies include coaching soccer, video games and hanging out with friends. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound center back earned All-State honors in 2019 and 2021. He also was a Mid-Wach all-star in 2019 and 2021. A four-year varsity player, Deschaine was also a Central Mass. all-star in 2019 and 2021. He will attend Bentley University to study business in the fall. He is the son of Amy Deschaine and Ben Deschaine of Southborough.
Aidan Ferguson
Douglas, Senior, Forward
The senior captain had 19 goals and 13 assists in 18 games. He also netted the most playoff goals in school history in one season. His most memorable moments this season came when helping the Tigers to a Division 5 state final and beating Sutton in district play. He’s a three-time Dual Valley Conference all-star, a three-time Central Mass. all-star, and in 2021 was named All-State and All-New England. Ferguson, the DVC Player of the Year for the fall, is undecided on college plans, but wants to play soccer. He is the son of Melissa and Alex Ferguson of Douglas.
Evan Gaibor
North Middlesex, Senior, Midfielder
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound captain registered 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points, which set a record for most points in a season for the Patriots. He posted 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points as a junior, and notched eight points his sophomore season. He was named Mid-Wach B MVP, Central Mass. all-star and All-State. Scoring the winning goal in the final five minutes against Marlborough was his most memorable moment this season. His hobbies include tennis, boxing and saxophone. He has not committed to a school for the fall, but wants to study biology and play soccer. He is the son of Darlene and Frank Gaibor of Townsend.
Jevin Green
Doherty High, Junior, Forward
The 5-foot-10, 163-pounder also served as the team’s attacking midfielder and posted 17 goals and three assists in 19 games. Scoring a hat trick against AMSA and posting a 2-1 win over South High were two of his most memorable moments this season. Overall, he enjoyed spending time with his teammates and coach during practices and games en route to an Inter-High championship. Green was named an Inter-High all-star, Inter- High MVP, Central Mass. all-star and to the T&G Super Team. He was the Inter-High's leading scorer. His hobbies include biking, drawing and swimming. His goal is to play Division 1 soccer in college and turn pro. He’s the son of Lisa and Austin Green of Worcester.
Ryan McNulty
Bromfield School, Senior, Striker
The 5-foot-9, 145-pounder also served as an attacking midfielder and registered 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points. Scoring the winning goal in overtime in the Division 5 state final against Douglas was McNulty’s most memorable moment of the season. As the team captain, he earned league MVP honors, along with All-State and All-Central Mass. accolades. His hobbies include hockey, hanging out with friends, playing piano and oboe. His college plans are TBD, but he wants to major in computer science and wants to have a career in the tech industry. He is the son of Kyounghee and Brian McNulty of Devens.
Alex Miller
Leominster, Senior, Center attacking midfielder
As a second-year captain, and four-year varsity starter, Miller registered 27 goals and seven assists. The 5-foot-8, 145-pounder is a three-time All-Stater and four-time league all-star. He also earned All-New England honors. Scoring a hat trick in the state tournament against Peabody was one of his most memorable moments of the season. His hobbies include all sports, working out, friends and family. He’s attending Quinnipiac University in the fall and will study physical therapy. His goal is to be a four-year starter and be eligible for the MLS Draft. He is the son of Almudena Ayala and Michael Miller of Leominster.
Jevic Perez
Leominster, Senior, Center defensive mid
A two-year captain, Perez scored five goals and added four assists this season. Beating Algonquin in the CMADA Division 1 final was his most memorable moment of the season. As a three-year starter, he’s a two-time Mid-Wach A All-Star, a two-time Central Mass. all-star and All-Stater in 2021. His hobbies include football and video games. He’s attending UMass-Boston in the fall and will study health sciences. He’s the son of Cinthya Velazquez and Jensen Perez of Leominster.
Cody Porter
Nipmuc Regional, Senior, Defense
As multi-position player at center back, right back, center mid and center defensive mid, Porter helped guide a potent defense, which posted six shutouts and averaged only 1.5 goals against en route to Dual Valley Conference and CMADA championships. As team captain, he earned conference and league all-star honors. He’s a regional all-star and All-Stater. Helping Nipmuc post a 1-0 overtime victory for a CMADA championship was his most memorable moment of the season. His hobbies include airsoft, archery and fishing. He will attend Nichols College in the fall and study business. He is the son of Sherry and Richard Porter of Upton.
Christopher Rivelli
Northbridge, Senior, Midfielder
As a two-year captain, Rivelli scored 13 goals and added seven assists this season. He earned All-SWCL honors, along with Central Mass. all-star and All-State accolades. Beating Grafton, 2-1, on Senior Night was one of his most memorable moments of the season. Rivelli described the victory as a “proud captain that night,” and he scored both goals as Northbridge beat Grafton for the first time in several years. His hobbies include golf, landscaping and collecting sports cards. He hasn’t decided on a school yet, but he wants to play soccer and study business management. He is the son of Shelley and Frank Rivelli of Northbridge.
DJ Tucker
Hopedale, Senior, Midfielder
Scoring a hat trick in a CMADA final was the captain’s most memorable moment of the season. For the season, the 5-foot-9, 165-pounder posted 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points. He was named a Metro West all-star, Central Mass. all-star, and earned All-State honors. His hobbies include hanging out with friends and family, skiing and video games. He is the son of Lynn and Denoid Tucker of Hopedale.
Dillon Winkelmann
Auburn, Senior, Midfielder
The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder captain helped guide the Rockets to a 11-5-2 record and a postseason berth. He registered 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points. He tied for most assists on the team, and second in goals scored. Winkelmann was named to the Central Mass. and SWCL all-star squads as well as All-State. He wants to become a physical therapist and work in the sports field. Beating Shepherd Hill with a goal in the 76th minute en route to a 2-1 victory was his most memorable moment of the season. He’s also the captain of the hockey team, enjoys being in the gym, skiing and track. He’s the son of Amy and Carl Winkelmann of Spencer.
