Check out Triple Crown of Running 15K planned road closures Saturday in downtown Louisville
Commuters, take note: Another race will cause road closures this weekend around Louisville.
The last leg of the Triple Crown of Running is set for Saturday morning around downtown, prompting road shutdowns until early in the afternoon.
The 15K run is set to start at 7:30 a.m., according to the Triple Crown of Running website, but Louisville Metro Police said road will be closed beginning at 4 a.m. The series of races, which began earlier this month with a 5K, leads up to the Kentucky Derby Festival Mini and Marathon, set for April 29 this year.
Participants can pick up their race packets Friday at Louisville Slugger Field, 401 E Main Street, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. There will also be free parking at the location Saturday.
The post-race party will be at Waterfront Park's South Great Lawn, 222 E. Witherspoon St.
LMPD said the race will start at Brook Street and East Market Street and will move through the Central Business District of downtown Louisville. All the streets used for the race will be closed to non-participants and cars, but traffic will be allowed to pass when its safe.
The only road that will not be closed is Main Street between Second Street and Third Street. There will be barricades and traffic barrels separating the northbound lane of Main Street to make way for the traffic driving southbound from the Second Street Bridge.
