Chef Vincent Francoual joins local restaurant group, teases new French spot

Acclaimed Twin Cities chef Vincent Francoual is joining a new restaurant group — with an updated French dining spot reportedly in the works.

The chef behind the former Vincent, A Restaurant, recently signed on with Restore Restaurant Holdings. The group aims to partner already-successful restaurateurs with financial, legal and other resources, which they say can help the hospitality scene continue to bounce back. Francoual will help lead new concepts, the group said, including a “busy French-inspired restaurant,” plus other ideas.

Also part of the Restore team is restaurateur Erik Forsberg, who owns Devil’s Advocate in Minneapolis and Stillwater, plus Dan Kelly’s Pub in downtown Minneapolis and Joseph’s Restaurant in Oak Park Heights.

Since Vincent closed in 2015 after 14 years on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, Francoual has served as culinary director for a group of Irish pubs in the Twin Cities as well as the executive chef at the Minikahda Club. And before opening Vincent, which was considered among the best classic French restaurants in the Twin Cities, Francoual worked at Michelin-starred Le Bernardin in New York City and Cafe Un Deux Trois in Minneapolis.

More details about Francoual’s new restaurant ventures will be announced soon, Restore said.
