Chelmsford Girl Surprised With Pop-Up Dining Experience: WATCH

CHELMSFORD, MA — A 5-year-old Chelmsford girl and her family got a special surprise Sunday with a pop-up dining experience by local chef Ming Tsai.

The celebrity chef has been treating people who deserve a little extra cheer during the coronavirus pandemic to an at-home restaurant experience this week.

His first "Bing Dong Dine" – a play on Ding Dong Ditch – was for Paisley, a 5-year-old girl in Chelmsford who has been battling lymphoblastic leukemia since 2018.

Tsai said Paisley's "charisma and energy is an inspiration to the whole MingsBings team."

She gave him a thumbs up:

The chef wanted to do something kind for people who were having a hard time during the pandemic or who did something amazing for others, and his team was all in, according to Becca Noren, who is on his team.

The Chelmsford family was the first family, on Sunday, she said. Then they visited a nurse on Monday, and visited someone else Tuesday and have plans for Thursday and Friday.

"The hope is really just to spread kindness during the holiday season," said Noren. "Most families won’t be able to have big family gatherings so the goal is to spread show others a little surprise and generosity can go along way. The hope is that people will be moved, and the folks who have participated in or watched from a far will pay it forward to the people they miss or know could use a fun surprise this holiday season. "

Tuesday his Bing Dong Dine involved Jeanette, a pediatric intensive care unit nurse in Medford. Half of Jeanette's floor has been turned into a COVID-19 unit, and she cares for both pediatric and COVID-19 patients.

"We surprised Jeannette and her husband by giving them a date night," Tsai wrote on Instagram. "The least we could do for one of our healthcare heroes!"

Noren said Winston Flowers donates the flowers they bring.
