Chemung County now accepting grant applications to improve tourism

CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. (WETM) – Chemung County is now accepting Room Tax Tourism grant applications from non-profit agencies and organizations to receive funding to support activities to help enhance tourism in Chemung County this year.

According to Chemung County Executive Chris Moss’s Office, the grant applications are open to local groups that are actively involved in promoting and enhancing tourism in Chemung County for the year 2024. Applications must be submitted no later than April 4, 2024, at 4 p.m.

Chemung County municipalities see $2 million in roadway grants

Some examples of activities that are eligible for tourism grant funding include but are not limited to, tourist attractions, entertainment venues, events, festivals and events or materials that increase tourism by promoting and distributing information to attract and welcome visitors.

The hope for this enhancement is to increase economic activity in the county through overnight lodging, spending on dining and attractions and the sales of gifts, souvenirs and other items to visitors and tourists.
