Chemung County Sheriff investigates Wednesday night stabbing in West Elmira

WEST ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a stabbing that took place last night in Elmira.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, West Elmira Police and the Sheriff’s Office were sent to a residence on Larchmont Road for the report of a disturbance on Wednesday, Feb. 14, around 11:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, officials say that they discovered that a 46-year-old man had been stabbed, and after further investigation, learned that it had been done by his 19-year-old stepson. Other family members were there at the time of the incident.

Officials say that the 19-year-old left the residence, went to a neighbor’s residence and told them about the incident, and they called the police.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff’s Office continued the investigation, and the victim was taken by ambulance to Guthrie Medical Center and treated for his injuries. The Sheriff’s Office says he was later released and did not cooperate with investigators.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office to determine criminal charges against those involved.
