Cheney: Trump tried to call a Jan. 6 hearing witness
At the end of Tuesday’s public hearing of the House select committee investigating the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021, GOP Rep. Liz Cheney said former President Trump tried to call a witness the public hasn't yet seen in the hearings. Cheney said the matter of witness tampering has been referred to the Justice Department.

MS. CHENEY: After our last hearing, President Trump tried to call a witness in our investigation. A witness you have not yet seen in these hearings. That person declined to answer or respond to President Trump's call, and instead, alerted their lawyer to the call. Their lawyer alerted us, and this committee has supplied that information to the Department of Justice.
Let me say one more time, we will take any effort to influence witness testimony very seriously.
