Cher Will Join Hillary Clinton for Virtual Fundraiser as the Singer Continues Her Political Appearances

Celebrities have not held back in their political endorsements of late, and the hits keep on coming — quite literally: On Thursday, Cher joins former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in a virtual fundraiser for various Democratic candidates.

The event with the pop legend will be held for Clinton's Onward Together, a political advocacy group that urges people to organize, get involved and run for office.

“I’m really looking forward to joining Cher to support groups and leaders who are doing the hard, important work of defending our democracy," Clinton, 73, tells PEOPLE in a statement. "I can’t think of a better person to provide the inspiration and motivation to power us through the final days of this election."

And, Clinton jokingly adds, "I definitely won’t be singing (you’re welcome, everybody) but I know who I’ll be listening to on heavy rotation this week!”

Cher, 74, has recently spent time stumping for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. On Sunday, she performed at a virtual concert in which she updated lyrics to the song “Happiness is Just a Thing Called Joe” to be about the former vice president, who is running against Donald Trump in the Nov. 3 election.

Over the weekend, Cher also made campaign stops in Las Vegas and Phoenix.

"The reason I came here tonight, it's not that I'll only care about Joe and Kamala — it's that I really care that everyone in the United States gets to have a fair chance," she said in Phoenix.

Before singing her hit song, "Believe," Cher urged the socially-distanced attendees to vote.

"I don't have anything amazing to say, just vote and I'm happy to have been here," she said. "I can't see you but I can feel you. That's all I have to say is vote and bring someone to vote."

During the 2016 campaign, Cher campaigned for Clinton and has since since been increasingly vocal about her then-opponent, now-President Trump. In late August, she called him "an idiot," while appearing at a Biden fundraiser.

“Joe is smart enough, he’s kind enough, he’s strong enough,” Cher said, before using the phrase Trump had used to demonstrate his skills on a cognitive test. “I also know that the 'person, woman, man, camera, TV,' in the White House is an idiot. I mean it. No, the guy is really an idiot.”

(Trump, who had mocked Cher over the years on Twitter, more recently made a jab at her last year.)

The Onward Together event with Cher requires advance registration and a minimum donation of $10.
