Chernéy Amhara, who has anchored the weekend morning newscasts at WISN-TV (Channel 12) since January 2019, said on social media Friday that she's leaving the Milwaukee ABC affiliate.

In her Facebook post, Amhara said her last newscasts will be Jan. 15 and 16. She said she wasn't ready to share her "next chapter yet."

"It’s been quite a ride," Amhara wrote on Facebook. "I have grown, accomplished and learned so much in my 3 years in the Midwest (including not crying through the polar vortex). I will always cherish the bonds and memories I’ve made in Milwaukee."

Before joining Channel 12 as weekend morning news anchor in late January 2019, Amhara, who grew up in Jamaica and later moved to California, had been a multimedia journaliast and fill-in anchor at KVVU-TV in Las Vegas. Before that, she worked as a reporter in Charlottesville, Va.
