Cherokee County firefighter’s home burns down, friends start fundraiser to help his family
A Cherokee County firefighter’s home burned to the ground on Monday and now a friend has organized a fundraiser to help him and his wife.
According to the GoFundMe campaign, the home of firefighter Joel Saunders, who works with Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services Station 24 in Woodstock, was destroyed by a fire.
Neither he nor his wife, Carolyn, were home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Saunders and his wife lost everything except their vehicles.
For the time being, they are staying with a friend.

The GoFundMe campaign has a goal to raise $7,500.
As of Thursday afternoon, the campaign has raised over $5,200 to help the couple.
