Cheshire Bridge Road to partially reopen Monday more than a year after bridge fire

A portion of Cheshire Bridge road that has been closed for more than a year after a fire damaged a bridge will partially reopen on Monday.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said the Atlanta Department of Transportation will open one northbound lane and one southbound lane. The westside sidewalk will also reopen.

Business owners along Cheshire Bridge they have been struggling to stay afloat. Some have even been forced to close.

“Lunches have suffered quite a bit and we’ve lost some businesses because of it,” George Trusler, manager of Taqueria Del Sol, told Channel 2 Action News.

“We’ve lost about 25 percent of their business,” Jennifer Spell of Atlanta Water Gardens said.
