Chestnut Street Concert Series to begin Saturday

The Chestnut Street Concert Series will begin Saturday in the arts district of Wedgewood-Houston.

The free event will feature a lineup of three musical acts under the old guitar at The Outfield, 416 Chestnut Street.

Good Neighbor Festivals is producing the series. The group has been hosting community-focused events in and around Nashville for more than 12 years. Planning for and creating the Chestnut Street Concert Series started around six to 12 months ago.

“The event was designed to shed a spotlight on local musicians,” said Jack Davis, founder of Good Neighbor Festivals.

Featured artists for the October show include Alicia Gail, performing at 6:15 p.m., Love Montage, performing at 7:15 p.m., and Teddy and the Rough Riders, performing at 8:15 p.m.

The lineup for the November show has already been announced as well. Confirmed performers are Mount Worcester, The Kentucky Gentlemen and Twen.

“It’s focused on multiple genres of music. We’re trying to diversify that across the board for this series,” Davis said. Local bands and performers with upbeat and fun sets for a family-friendly audience were also specifically sought after.

Food and beverage vendors, such as gourmet hot dog eatery Daddy’s Dogs will be present.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.

Organizers hope to run the Chestnut Street Concert Series month to month. The area is walkable, which is convenient for families, Davis noted.

“I think that the local community is going to embrace the idea,” he said.
