Chestnut Street fire in Union Township leaves one in critical condition

UNION (Union) – One resident was critically injured in a fire on Chestnut Street Wednesday, authorities said.

The fire was reported around 12:14 p.m. Wednesday at a residence over a three-story commercial building on Chestnut Street, authorities said. Upon arrival minutes later, firefighters reported smoke and fire from the second floor, authorities said.

Firefighters evacuated the residents, and one tenant was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, authorities said. Three firefighters were treated for exhaustion with one transported to a local hospital, authorities said.

No residents are displaced, and the fire is currently under investigation, authorities said.
