Four-hundred veterans and their families received dinners for the 10th annual Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner Giveaway.
"It feels good to have a meal just prepared for us and not have to worry about where it’s coming from," said Daniel Castorena.
Castorena served in the U.S. Army for 11 years. He says it feels nice to be recognized.
"Whenever they want to provide our family with food and just think about us, come out here and are willing to do this for us, it makes me feel better and I’m sure a lot of the veterans as well," said Castorena.
The Bears, Molson Coors, and Jewel-Osco put on the event. They pushed to make the meal pick-up a whole experience.
"They are so appreciative. They are thankful for this and look forward to it, and we’re happy to be part of it," said Mike Withers, President of Jewel-Osco.
Every year, the need gets bigger, so the event gets bigger, too.
"Some people need it more than others. But this is always a good thing to have during the holidays. Where you can come, and you know it’s going to be here," said Chicago veteran Robert Gonzalez.
