Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns make way for WNBA playoffs, buy tickets to Sky-Sun, Mercury-Aces games

Growing the game has always been a group effort.

In the latest instance of NBA players supporting their WNBA counterparts, the entire Chicago Bulls roster purchased tickets to Game 3 of the Sky’s semifinal series against the Connecticut Sun, per ESPN’s Brooke Weisbrod.

The Sky and Sun entered Sunday’s game at Wintrust Arena tied 1-1 in the best of five-games series.

On Saturday it was reported that the Phoenix SunsChris Paul had purchased 500 tickets to the Mercury’s semifinal game against the Las Vegas Aces at Desert Financial Arena Sunday. Paul gave those tickets out to fans for free before the Sunday game.

The Suns, who host the Los Angeles Lakers for their second preseason game of the year on Oct. 6, the same day as the Mercury’s Game 4, also collectively decided to move the time of their game. That allows the Mercury to host a playoff game in their home arena, the Footprint Center, which they were booted from in their round one matchup against the Liberty because of a Maluma concert scheduled prior for the venue.

It’ll be the first time in both league’s histories a doubleheader will be played due to a WNBA playoff.
