Chicago Gospel Music Festival: This family-friendly event celebrates a genre of music born in Chicago more than 80 years ago. The festival will include traditional choirs as well as contemporary urban sounds mixed with hip hop, house, pop and R&B. Duane Powell opens the festival, while the Williams Singers, Brian Courtney Wilson and John P. Kee will close out the night. 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 4 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, 201. E Randolph St.; more information at ChicagoGospelMusicFestival.us

Chicago Blues Festival: This citywide event vaims to celebrate the past, present and future of blues music. This year, the festival includes a new “Women in Blues” showcase, where musicians will pay homage to Mary Lane. Other tribute performances will honor Erwin Helfer and his Boogie Woogie Ensemble; Bob Stroger and Friends; and Gene Barge, Cicero Blake and Willie Henderson.

June 9-12 in Millennium Park, Riverwalk and in the historic blues neighborhoods of Austin and Bronzeville; more information at ChicagoBluesFestival.us

Millennium Park Summer Music Series: On Mondays and Thursdays, this 10-part music series will spotlight a range of music from both established and up-and-coming artists. Performers include DakhaBrakha, a folk Ukrainian quartet that combines avant-garde, traditional and contemporary sounds, as well as Jeff Tweedy of Wilco with Chicago’s The People’s Music School.
