Chicago Heights man dies in fatal crash in Indiana

A 31-year-old Chicago Heights man died Saturday morning after crashing into the back of a semi-truck that was disabled on Interstate 94, Indiana state police said.

Around 6:45 a.m., Indiana state police were called to a crash on I-94 near mile-marker 17.6. A preliminary investigating revealed a 2011 Cadillac STS. was westbound on the right shoulder when it passed another vehicle and struck a parked semi.

According a news release, the semi was broken down due to a mechanical issue. The Cadillac struck the rear of the semi at a high rate of speed which caused the driver to suffer fatal injuries.

The driver was identified as Carlos D. Robinson of Chicago Heights.

Indiana State Police were investigating.
