Chicago Officials Say They're Ready With The New COVID Vaccine Expansion Date

President Joe Biden announced announced Tuesday that the deadline for adult eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines nationwide is being moved up to April 19.

IRIKA SARGENT: Just hours ago, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said the city will meet with the president's new deadline and make all adults eligible for COVID-19 vaccines by April 19. But she said we need more vaccines first. Department of Public Health commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady spoke today about the updated timeline.

DR. ALLISON ARWADY: There are a lot of people here in Chicago still really wanting to get that vaccine. And I know what a struggle that's been for people excited to get it, and I want to see that demand. The only thing that has been holding us back there is just the amount of supply.
