‘Chicago P.D.’ to lose star Jesse Lee Soffer in 10th season

One Windy City-set TV show is about to look a little different.

“Chicago P.D.” is saying goodbye to Jesse Lee Soffer, who has starred as Det. Jay Halstead since 2014, when the Dick Wolf production premiered on NBC, the 38-year-old actor confirmed in a statement to Variety.

“I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years and want to express my deepest gratitude to Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, [creators] Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, [executive producer] Rick Eid, [showrunner] Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television, my fellow castmates and our incredible crew,” the Daytime Emmy-nominated “As the World Turns” alum told the outlet Monday.

“To create this hour drama week after week has been a labor of love by everyone who touches the show,” continued Soffer, who will exit during the upcoming 10th season. “I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead.”

“Chicago P.D.” is one of nine of shows currently airing on NBC from “Law & Order” creator and executive producer Wolf.

Soffer originated the role of Jay Halstead in the first episode of “Chicago Fire” season 2. His departure from “Chicago P.D.” isn’t the first to shake up the procedural of late.

Sigan, formerly the writer and executive producer, became showrunner late last year after the show bid farewell to Eid, who also serves in the role on Wolf productions “Law & Order” and “FBI.”
