Chicago PD favourites Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos have reunited on the picket line, as part of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) strike.

The actors, known for their on-screen roles as the married couple Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton, met up at the protest with One Chicago’s executive producer Derek Haas.

Soffer posted a snap of the 'Upstead' reunion on his Instagram on Monday (August 7) with the caption: "Team, assemble!"

Fans were delighted to see the duo back together, after Soffer exited the show at the start of season 10. His character moved to Bolivia and started to avoid his wife’s calls.

The writers and actors guilds have been on strike for several months, with SAG-AFTRA since July 13 and WGA since May 1. To date, no agreement has been reached to resolve the strike and resume production.

Speaking about his departure from the show at the time, Soffer revealed it was "one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life".

However, the actor hasn’t ruled out a return to the show in the future, adding: "Never say never. Halstead’s always going to be in my blood. That’s never going to change."

This reunion comes after their co-star LaRoyce Hawkins confirmed that season 11 of Chicago PD will be delayed due to the strike.

He explained at an acting masterclass lecture at Louisiana State University: "Naturally, after the writers' strike, it's going to take the writers a while to start warming up their rooms again and starting to conceptualise stories again. So we might need like a three-week buffer."
